TRANS-PACIFIC MODEL UN

Coming together from across the Oceans

Join fellow students from across China, Canada, and the United States for a virtual conference to discuss real global issues and find solutions to bring people together in an increasingly divisive world. The Trans-Pacific Model UN Conference runs simultaneous Security Council (SC) committees and addresses topics set by the real United Nations. Students will become delegates, stepping into the shoes of ambassadors to member states of the United Nations. Delegates will research their country, topic, and committee, submit position papers, present prepared and off-the-cuff speeches, debate policies and negotiate to produce solutions in the form of resolutions.

The Trans-Pacific Conference is delighted to be part of the MUN Challenge 2022. This year, the UN has challenged MUN teams around the world to find durable solutions to the ongoing refugee crises around the world, most recently in Ukraine. As the UNHCR reports, "worldwide, over 80 million people have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, violence and persecution." As part of the challenge, all resolutions produced by the conference participants will be viewed by members of the UN and specialists (see more below).

Win Prizes, become a research pro, practice public speaking, and engage in international politics. All this and more awaits.

The first annual Trans-Pacific Model UN Summer Conference will take place online from the 5th to 7th August 2022.

The TP-MUN Conference is excited to join the MUN Challenge issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Resolutions from the conference will be put before a jury composed of UNHCR members, young refugee leaders and independent experts. Prizes will be awarded for best solutions, and these will also be passed on to real-life policymakers.
